1/18 Update: Two weekends remain for the girls season and the boys 3rd-5th season. As games continue to be postponed and rescheduled due to COVID issues, please make sure you are checking your schedule before the weekend each week. It is clear that not all games will be able to be rescheduled this season. We are still moving forward with a plan for the girls and boys 3rd-5th tournament that will take place from Feb 1st-7th.
This information will be discussed on our league Zoom call on January 20th, but here are the timelines for the first basketball tournament (all girls and boys 3rd-5th) this season. We hope to have a preliminary gym usage schedule available to all parishes by Monday, January 25th. This won't be final, but will give all parishes/schools information to start planning.

There will be a brief basketball meeting via Zoom on Wednesday, January 20th at 9pm to discuss the upcoming tournament and other items. An email will go out to all parishes/schools this evening with more information.
A boys volleyball planning meeting will be held (again via Zoom) at 7pm on Tuesday, January 26th. An agenda and Zoom information has been emailed to all boys volleyball coordinators and member parishes/schools.
Please reach out to the league if you have any questions about either of these meetings.

However, there are some facilities that, due to their size, have different more stringent guidelines. Also, please note that when we say two adults, that means that nobody else can attend a game (no siblings, cousins, etc ...). It doesn't matter who the adults are with the player (can be grandparents, etc ...) but no children.
The following facilities will only allow ONE adult per player:
A reminder that all game reschedules need to be submitted to the league by 8pm on Wednesday nights for games taking place that weekend. Our referee assignor needs time to manage this. Thanks!
Game reschedules are worked by parish coordinators (the home team coordinator is responsible when rescheduling a game postponed due to gym closure) and submitted to the league for approval. When rescheduling games, please make them adjacent to an existing set of games at your school/parish or if that is not possible, please reschedule two or more games back-to-back. While not ideal, we will be able to get referees for weekday games if that is the only time available for your parish/school to host a game. Monday and Wednesday nights are preferable for our referees and please schedule 2 or more games together.
If a game cancellation is the first or last game of the day, or is in the middle of the day, the league will not be doing anything about that. If the game is the second of the day or second to last of the day, we will move the first or last game up or back to close the gap in the schedule. We will not be asking permission for these types of changes, everyone needs to be flexible this season and read their email to see the game change notifications to which all coaches have been subscribed. We will NOT be closing gaps in gym time under any circumstance when a cancellation is made within a few days of the game. It causes too much confusion.

Please read the GCCYS Health and Safety Guidelines for the 2020-21 basketball season as well as an addendum for the existing GCCYS Basketball rules. For those parishes that did not sign the Health and Safety Guidelines during the fall volleyball season, they must do so to participate in the basketball season. In addition, all parents must check a box on the GCCYS Liability Waiver indicating that they have read this document and agree to abide by its directives.

All parents should take a moment to read "10 Things Parents Need to Know" which is a great reminder to all. Coaches, if you need help tracking playing time for basketball, please print out and use the Basketball Player Tracker. League specific information is available under the Leagues menu.
Also as a reminder, the maximum gate fee that a parish/school may charge is $5/family (meaning two adults for this year) or $3/adult
